June 11th, 2009 First Ride: TruTrainer Rollers I have the opportunity to test the TruTrainer rollers and yesterday a nice big box came with the fully optioned set of rollers. Unpacking was super easy, they were ready to ride, no annoying assembly required. A big thanks to TruTrainer for providing a test set with all the trimmings.

Today was a rainy day, so I had a great opportunity to give them a spin. I was immediately impressed with how smooth and stable these are. No vibrations, no rattles, extremely high quality construction. And they fold, so great for pre/post race use.

I did a few quick hard efforts, then settled in for a 5:00 steady effort. I did notice that I was maxing out the resistance in my 53x11 at around 400 to 420w. I would have to let some air out of the tires to do steady VO2 work for sure.

I was able to ride out of the saddle, no hands, etc from the get go, no issues.

Now that I have a very functional easy to travel with set of rollers, I will likely be bringing them to all the races, especially time trials, for warmups and cooldowns. It's easy to get lazy, not do a proper warmup or cooldown and I'm the worst. But you always ride better when you do and those first couple of laps don't hurt as badly if you are hot and ready to go.
