Race Report: Walnut Cove M35+ Crit

Quick race report here.  Yeah, I decided to race, even though I was "done" a month ago.  The weather has just been too nice, I have been feeling pretty good on the bike so I figured why not.

The course was 0.7 miles long, 6 turns, very technical.  A field of about 35 M35+ guys - and trust me, everyone here has seen this movie before - race starts fast, break goes on first couple of laps.  While the break makeup may vary a bit - two guys are always in it, every time - me and Charlie Brown.  So off we went.

I'll spare you the boring, I attacked, he attacked, etc - but I did win all three primes, which were 2 cases of beer and some sunglasses.  On the final lap I had to contend with two fast sprinters, and they both got the better of me - so I got 3rd.  It was fun, fast, over and done with in 40 minutes.  My kind of race.

Tomorrow - Carolina Cup, a really fun course, and a long running race.  37 years running - my first time doing it I lined up as a junior, 15 - next to Big George!

Cheers,
pete

ClientTestimonials

"When looking for a coach, I essentially wanted two things: to be attentive/available and to possess the understanding to provide thoughtful workouts/advice according to evidence-based principles. Peter has more than fulfilled these goals. He is responsive and thoughtful, typically returning emails in a few hours and frequently following it up with further thoughts once he has digested the question fully. I have already made significant progress in just a few months, and I look forward to continuing the same in the months/years to come."
