Mebane to Beantown

The last few weeks have not had much to blog about, but I apologize for the lack of writing.  I have been riding and training, not terribly hard though, basically keeping my CTL around 80 to 85.  Mostly short rides, some hard efforts and sprints, then shut it down.  Mostly in the darkness of the morning before work and the rest of the day's activities start up.

Riding in the dark is really fun, more fun than I thought it would be.  Even with my ipod blasting, it's amazingly peaceful, quiet out there in the dark.  Just me, my lights, tons of bats and bugs a plenty.  Hardly any cars though, and those that are out there cannot help but notice me on the road and my 1500 lumens of light.  Probably far safer than riding during the day.

I just got home from 3 1/2 days in Bedford, MA (near boston) where I was at RSA Security HQ for training and meetings.  I work for RSA (Security division of EMC) if you didn't know - in enterprise sales.  I usually dread these multiple day trips, no bike, not at home, poor food choices, etc.  I tried to make the best of it, went to bed really early, did a nice long walk each morning and tried to avoid all the crappy food that was around.

But the best part about travel (and I don't do it often these days) is coming home.  Even better than that is rushing to the airport, running around like mad and just barely making the earlier flight - that is the best.  I got home 3 hrs earlier than expected last night, felt like I won myself 3 hrs of my life back.

This morning was great, out the door at 5:30, did some threshold work, then some sprints, wrapped up in 90 minutes.

Tonight we are doing a customer event at our local martini bar which will be nice - then a quiet weekend at home.  The next few weekends are packed - travel, visiting with family and friends - lots of fun!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Happy Training,
Pete
