Hanes Park M35+ Race Report

Yesterday was one of the hottest days of the year, and Hanes Park always seems to be the same, super hot.

The course was new this year, ran in reverse with a new finish line.  Very very nice - plus it finishes right in front of Mock Orange Bikes.

Once again it was the usual suspects in the masters race, with a few out of towners.

The race started pretty fast, and a few moves tried to go but didn't get far.  About 1/2 way through we finally got a move that stuck, me and the two fastest sprinters in the race!  Chip hoover, Charlie and me.  Charlie was looking pretty strong, chip was dying.  I should have dropped him from the break when he was vulnerable, but I didn't.  Mistake.

With 2 laps to go, I found myself on the front with no one willing to pull through.  The field started to get close, and with 1/2 lap left they were only 5 or 10 seconds back.  So I was forced to stay on the front, and both sprinters got me.  But I did get both primes along the way.

Fun course, super hot day!  When I got home I still felt like riding a bit more, so out for an hour or so, few hard efforts, just enjoying the sun and 98.7 degree high for the day.

Cheers,
Pete

ClientTestimonials

"When looking for a coach, I essentially wanted two things: to be attentive/available and to possess the understanding to provide thoughtful workouts/advice according to evidence-based principles. Peter has more than fulfilled these goals. He is responsive and thoughtful, typically returning emails in a few hours and frequently following it up with further thoughts once he has digested the question fully. I have already made significant progress in just a few months, and I look forward to continuing the same in the months/years to come."
