The simply joys of a hard ride

This morning I headed out the door at my favorite time in the summer - dawn.  It's already 67 degrees, humid, I'm soaked in sweat w/in 20 minutes of leaving the house.

Out for the "usual" - up 119 north, 15 minute warmup, then hit it.  2x20 at 95%.  I go out 20, chill for 5, turn around and come back for 20.  The last few times I've done this I killed it - going right at 100% - but I get mad at my guys when they do that too much, so today I held back.  First 20 was easy - I was grinning the whole time and "bleeding" watts towards then end to get the average down.  Second 20 was slightly more effort, but not too bad.  Not death, or "grim" death as I like to say.  Took a longer cooldown, 2 hrs in total, 1900KJ.

I love the simple joys of knocking out a hard workout, early in the AM at dawn on a beautiful morning.  Makes the rest of the day that much better.

Of course today I'm doubling up - so sprints this afternoon, another 60 to 90 min total in the searing NC heat.

And lastly today is our 8th wedding anniversary - Kristy and I got married right here in Mill Creek where we live, 8 years ago.  Time has gone by so fast - but it's fun to think about all the interesting, fun, scary things we have been through and all of the time we have together going forward.

Cheers,
Pete
