Race Report - Town Hill TT

Friday night was the Town Hill time trial in Asheville, NC.  Town hill is a road that goes up to a ridge top where you get some great views and some really nice houses.  It's a fun road to ride on and the TT course is about 5 miles long - steep at the bottom, flattish in the middle then up a little more to the finish.  I like it alot, first time I did the race was last year where I set a new course record.

This year I was feeling fresh, on form and ready to make my best effort.

Last year I rode my Look road bike with 808s front and rear.  After careful analysis we determined the time trial bike would be faster over the entire course, so I took that bike out with a 1080 rear and 808 front.

There were tons of storms in the area, but somehow it was dry for my warmup and race, which is great.  Got a very solid warmup in which is key for a 17 min race.

I took off from the line (got 1st starting position) and tapped out a nice rythm on the steep part, in the mid 400s for the first 5 minutes or so.  Then I settled into the TT positions for the rest of the race.

I was happy with my effort and execution, there were no times where I let the power drop or gave into the pain and I didn't have any mechanical or other issues.

The conditions were obviously not as fast as last year - because this year I was slower by about 10 to 15 seconds while putting out more power, on a more aero bike/position.  So breaking the record was not to be this year.

I am super excited about where my form is, and how well I have adapted to the time trial bike.

Another 6 weeks and we'll see how things go at the main event!
