Week in review, racing and rambling

This has been a great week of riding, fantastic weather and great "sensations" as the pros say.

This week I did some tough interval workouts, some solid time on the TT bike and a really nice sprint workout, then a 2 easy rest days. Today I went out and did a hard 10:00 effort and some microbursts - all just a tune up for racing tomorrow.

Tomorrow I have two crits, 35+ and 1/2, back to back in sanford, NC. Really looking forward to it, should be a nice fun course.

Over the past 10 days or so the weather has been great, and I've been doing all my workouts on the road, outside instead of the good old e-motions. A nice break, and it's really fun to haul ass around the countryside. No difference in PE or power inside vs out, tt bike vs road.

I have to say this spring I have really enjoyed my training much more than in the past year or two. There is such a difference between feeling great and really enjoying the suffering vs dragging through intervals and dreading them all day. Part of it this year is more of a focus on masters racing, less pressure to do every race and really focusing on having fun. Kristy has been a big help in this area - and now if I don't race I don't feel guilty and I'd rather spend time with her anyway. But this has all helped make the training, the hard work much more fun, less of a chore.

I'm starting to see the runway to nationals clearer now - it's really just a matter of weeks now, some really hard work to do between now and then but it's out there, july 1st...16 miles. Be ready.

Cheers,
Pete
