Hold that thought

I decided not to make the trip up to DC for those crits - the total travel time (11hrs) was just not worth it. So I stayed home and I'm really glad I did.

Yesterday I headed out the door early for a nice interval workout OUTSIDE! I know, a big change for me. As I have found in the past, my PE and power output are identical inside and out. TT bike and Road Bike. All the same.

I am getting reacquainted with my favorite strech of road - this long winding road that goes right past our house. 30 miles north with maybe 2 stops along that way, 95% of the time you can hammer right through them. Slightly uphill on the way out, but basically flat. Perfect for intervals. Near zero cars.

So yesterday I had my best ever set of 20s, felt awesome and put out big power. I have certainly done (recently) higher power for a single 20:00 effort - but I like to also track how consistenly I do workouts like 2x20 and compare year over year - etc. They are going really well now for sure.

After eating tons of food I spent the afternoon in the sun on the patio, napping, relaxing. Much better to be home than in some industrial park.

Today was a repeate of yesterday - but with shorter intervals, 2x10:00 at 105% of FTP. Went great, hard work but totally fun. It's a blast to be rolling along in your 53x12, 30+mph just jammin it. When I finished my second interval today I looked around and realized how far I had gone along this road - a funny feeling, like, how the hell did I get all the way out here so fast LOL

cheers,
Pete

ClientTestimonials

"When looking for a coach, I essentially wanted two things: to be attentive/available and to possess the understanding to provide thoughtful workouts/advice according to evidence-based principles. Peter has more than fulfilled these goals. He is responsive and thoughtful, typically returning emails in a few hours and frequently following it up with further thoughts once he has digested the question fully. I have already made significant progress in just a few months, and I look forward to continuing the same in the months/years to come."
