April 11th, 2009Whew - slow week here
I just realized it's been almost a week since I checked in here - sorry about that! This week has not been terribly exciting from a training perspective - somewhat of a rest week, still kept the intensity there but shortened things up a good bit, 1x20 instead of 2, that sort of thing.
I also finally got my lazy butt out on the TT bike on the road. Ride #1 sucked and made me question why I even own it. Ride #2 somewhat better but made me question if I could even hold 300w on this rig. Ride #3 was good, felt comfortable, power generation decent, had fun.
The bike is all dialed in, no disc rubbing, good shifting, as it all should be.
Tomorrow is the 10.7 mile mebane TT - the start is a 75KJ spin from my house (close!) so I'll get to ride there and back which is cool. I get to go off in the pole position, so I'll have no one in front of me which is good, clean air and no passing hassles.
Last year it took about 24:10 on my road bike, no aero gear. It's supposed to be windy tomorrow, but I better see 23 something. Worst case it will be good practice and a fun test of the TT stuff.
I think it's funny how so many racers hate and avoid TT's like grim death. They malign them, joke about tri geeks and generally look down on them. I'm a big believer that being a good TT rider, being able to meter out your energy over various courses is a KEY skill to learn and one that every single racer could benefit from.
