"real" endurance

This was a really nice week of training, went well, all according to plan. I had 2 back to back 2-a-day days, tuesday and wednesday. Both went well. Took one day easy, then hit threshold work hard on friday and saturday. My 2x20 set on saturday was among my best ever, really nice power and spot on PE. This morning I had good legs, felt strong from the get go, so nice for 3rd hard day in a row. My recovery is getting better the fitter I get. Today I did the "cannell" hour o power - 1x60, target was 90%, but that was too easy, so I did it at 93%. Such a great feeling to wrap up a great workout, 90 minutes, 1600KJ, by 7 AM and have the rest of the day to chill out, relax, do whatever. In my mind, this is what endurance is all about. It's not about spending 6 hrs on the bike, at least I don't think so. You think your endurance is good? Get on the rollers and do an hour at 90 to 95% nonstop, no coasting, stretching, stopping, nothing. It was a fun weekend, we had our team camp and a new team member and old friend was in town staying with us friday night. He's also a client of mine, and we got up early saturday morning before camp and did our workout. He got a rare glimpse of the cannell morning routine - up early, coffee, snack, on the bike. We setup our gear side by side, did basicaly the same workout. It was actually pretty neat to have some company suffering alongside me and actually made my workout seem easier when someone else is doing it right there too. I also like to keep an eye on my clients. It's probably a good thing I don't have a training partner joining me in garage every day, things would probably get out of hand adn every workout woudl turn into a death march. We got our new gear at camp - new clothes, bottles, socks, helmets and all manor of zipp goodness. Wheels all around. Everyone like new stuff, I'm no exception. Currently I have several wheels in some state of being glued - no hurry so each layer gets days of drying time. We also had a good time hanging out with the team, having discussions of tactics, training, etc - all good stuff. Going to be a really fun year. We have several new additions to the team, some super strong guys, ex-pros, etc. All I have to say is masters nationals is going to be on fire this year with some serious horsepower - and I'm not talking about me, but a bunch of other super strong dudes. Going to be some serious shake ups and suprises for sure. Racing next weekend in NC, masters RR saturday and 2 crits sunday. Cheers, Pete
