Race Report - Greenville Spring Series Day #1

I'm reporting in from the hampton inn in greenville, sc this morning.  Yesterday was the official start of the race season in the southeast - the long running greenville training series.  It's called a training series, but make no mistake, everyone comes out swinging!

This weekend are two road races, identical, on the donalson road course.  A fast rolling course, 7 mile laps, a course folks around here are very familiar with.

I drove down (3.5hrs) yesterday and did the p1/2 race in the afternoon.  It was good seeing a bunch of guys I haven't seen since the summer, and it was warm and not too windy.

The race went ok - I felt good, was in the mix a bit but unltimatly a break rolled away when I wasn't in a great position to do anything and that happened to be the break that stuck.  Oh well - the last 2 laps were pretty easy.  I did have fun in the finale fighting for a leadout train from this canadian team and that was cool, even though I didn't have much of a sprint at the end.

Today is more of the same, but a little cooler, high of 50s, sunny and windy.  Windy enough to NOT ride the front 1080 - but rear for sure.  I'm probably going to do the 42 mile M35+ race and then the 56 mile p1/2 right after.  Not really expecting to do anything spectacular in either, will work hard and see what happends.
