November 8th, 2009Really 35+ now, sick but not really sick, team clothing, 2 sexy rides
Hello blog readers. I don't know who you all are, and quite frankly I'm always suprised and flattered when someone emails me who I don't already know, saying they read my blog. I figured by now I'd run out of interesting, witty things to write and it would just be my wife reading. Apparently I still have a ways to go.Yesterday - big day. Turned 35 for real (not that "racing age" thing). Yippee. Had an excellent time with my wife, got some great fun gifts including a much needed ENORMOUS martini shaker. Great for parties - which we are having one of tonight. Check facebook for pictures later (and by gosh get on with facebook and twitter like everyone else!!!).
Yesterday I was continuing my compairsion riding of hte look and giant - and someone asked me if that new bike was a birthday present. Hmm.. No, not exactly. We do little, thoughtful gifts around here, nothing big like that. Imagine Kristy trying to pick out my next bike? I'm way to neurotic and picky about every little detail for that to ever work.
On the sick front, I have been fighting off a mild chest cold the last few days. no fever, but not 100%. I can ride, but going hard doesn't quite feel right, but getting fresh air feels great. I rode easy yesterday, enjoyed the sun, and slept most of the day. I was so hoping to wake up this AM back to normal, but *sigh*, didn't happen. So another day w/out any real training. At least it gives me extra time to clean the bikes.
As for the bikes, I have come to the conclusion that I love them both. Slight differences in geometry, ride qualities are amazingly similar and I can't really verbalize the differences - both rock. It would be great to race a crit on each one, same course, and decide based on that. So for now, I'm keeping both. Why not.
We have been busy hammering out a team CCT kit design and finally have it beyond concept form. It took a TON of effort to find a design the founding members agreed upon, and I'm eternally grateful to Mike Stearns for putting up with us. I will be posting the latest version later today hopefully. Anyone who wants one is welcome to be part of our initial order, jerseys, shorts, jackets, whatever u want.
We are having a bunch of friends over tonight for dinner, should be good fun. If I'm still feeling like pooo I'll just have to see who can drink more wine - me or Trish!
Cheers,
Coach Pete
